Before I even step foot on the plane, I start by hydrating my skin from within. The summer heat, coupled with the dehydrating effects of air travel, has left my skin parched in the past. I increase my water intake in the days leading up to my trip to ensure my skin is well-hydrated. I also consider adding more hydrating foods to my diet, such as water-rich fruits and vegetables.
Prepare your skin by exfoliating to remove dead skin cells and promote a smoother complexion. I use a gentle exfoliator suited to my skin type to avoid irritation. This step helps my skin absorb moisturizers and serums, setting the stage for a radiant glow. Remember to also take care of your feet and give them a pedicure to make you feel comfortable stepping into open shoes and sandals.
Never underestimate the power of sunscreen. Whether you're basking on the beach or strolling through a city, protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is non-negotiable. I prefer to opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and reapply every two hours, especially if I am swimming or sweating.
I give my skin an extra boost by incorporating antioxidants into my skincare routine. Vitamin C serums or antioxidant-rich moisturizers help combat free radicals, which can be particularly prevalent in the summer due to increased sun exposure. This extra layer of defense promotes a youthful, glowing complexion.
Airplane cabins are notorious for their dry air, which can leave your skin feeling tight and dehydrated. I combat this by drinking plenty of water throughout the flight. Additionally, consider using a hydrating facial mist to refresh your skin and spritzing periodically helps fight the drying effects of recycled air.
In-flight skincare is all about moisture retention. Apply a rich, hydrating moisturizer to create a protective barrier on your skin. Don't forget about your hands, which can also suffer from dehydration. A nourishing hand cream keeps my skin soft and supple and is the best to be tucked into my purse for any emergency situations, in a worst-case scenario I also use it for my face. Elizabeth Arden’s iconic Eight Hour Cream and products are always useful and come in small miniature travel packs too.
I combat tired eyes and reduce puffiness by using hydrating eye masks during the flight. Whether you choose gel patches or cream-based masks, this extra step provides a refreshing boost and helps you arrive at your destination looking revitalized. A cryo therapy face mask a la DIY is also really practical to reduce puffiness, but keep in mind it requires that you have access to a freezer at your final destination.
Consider going makeup-free during the flight to let your skin breathe. If you prefer a bit of coverage, opt for a lightweight tinted moisturizer. Keeping my makeup minimal reduces the risk of clogged pores and allows my skin to absorb the benefits of my in-flight skincare routine more effectively.
Sleeping is key for a fresh and healthy look. Carry a padded silk eye mask and headset to cut off light and noise and try to schedule when to sleep according to the time zone you travel from and to. I also always carry a pashmina shawl and cashmere socks to make sure I stay warm and make myself as comfortable as possible, especially when doing red-eye flights.
Different destinations come with varying climates, and your skincare routine should adapt accordingly. In humid tropical climates, lightweight, non-comedogenic products are your best friends, while drier climates may require richer moisturizers. Adjusting my routines has ensured that my skin receives the care it needs based on the environment. Sunscreen protection lotions must be applied before you step into your bikini and go out in the sun. It is important to cover all areas with sunscreen lotion, including areas hidden under your bikini. A fabric rarely provides more protection than SPF10. Look for waterproof sunscreen lotions and reapply after every swim and dip in the water.
Just as your skin needs protection, your hair is susceptible to the elements. Sun, saltwater, and chlorine can take a toll on your locks. Before heading to the beach or the pool, I dampen my hair and apply a protective leave-in conditioner or hair oil. This creates a barrier, preventing my hair from absorbing as much salt or chlorine. Wearing a head scarf, a sun hat or a wide brim hat also helps partially cover your face from direct sun exposure.
After a refreshing dip, I always rinse my hair with clean water to remove salt or chlorine. Follow up with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to keep your hair hydrated and prevent damage. For an added boost, apply a hair mask once a week to replenish moisture. If outdoor swimming is a part of your daily fitness regimen, it also makes sense to cover your hair completely with a swim cap. A light-colored swim cap is always preferred over a darker one as it attracts lesser heat.
If your skin has been exposed to prolonged sun, consider applying a cooling face mask. Aloe Vera or a sheet mask with calming ingredients can soothe sun-kissed skin and alleviate any redness or irritation. This step is especially beneficial after a day of outdoor activities. Avoid direct sun exposure in the coming days and make sure to always protect your skin well with sunscreen protections.
Upon returning home, rehydrate your skin by continuing to drink plenty of water. I reinforce my skincare routine with hydrating serums and creams to replenish any moisture lost during my travels. Consider adding a gentle, hydrating mask to your routine to revive your skin.
Give your hair some post-travel TLC by indulging in a nourishing hair treatment. I ensure to apply a deep conditioning mask to restore moisture and repair any damage and moreover, trim my hair to get rid of any split ends caused by exposure to the elements.
As you settle back into your routine, reintroduce any products you may have skipped while traveling. This includes exfoliants, retinol, or any specialized treatments in your skincare regimen. Gradually easing back into your routine prevents overwhelming your skin with too many active ingredients at once.
Consistency is key to maintaining healthy skin and hair. I mostly stick to my regular skincare and haircare routines, only adjusting as needed based on my skin's condition and feedback. The more consistent you are, the more likely you are to preserve that radiant post-travel glow.
Achieving and maintaining radiant skin and luscious locks during your summer travels or sunshine destination travel in the winters requires a combination of preparation, in-flight precautions, and post-travel care. From prepping your skin and health before departure to adapting your skincare and haircare routines to the destination, this comprehensive guide ensures you return home with the same freshness and glow you set out with.
By follow these simple practices with consistency, you are set to let your beauty radiate from the inside out and far beyond your trip to a sunny destination.
But what if I told you that a holiday could be a catalyst for not just maintaining but enhancing your health and well-being? In this blog, we will explore more on how to stay in shape while traveling. I shall offer practical tips on mindful eating and fitness routines on the go, talk more about embracing opportunities for better sleep and making mindful day-to-day choices.
Say goodbye to the guilt of vacation indulgences and hello to a healthier you!
One of the primary challenges of staying healthy while traveling is navigating the minefield of tempting yet often unhealthy food options. From in-flight meals laden with carbs and sugars to the allure of street food in bustling markets, the choices seem endless. However, with a mindful approach, you can savor the flavors of your destination while nourishing your body.
I usually begin my journey armed with healthy snacks. I pack a variety of nuts, seeds, and dried fruits to keep my hunger at bay without succumbing to the allure of airport fast food or sugary airplane treats. Having wholesome snacks readily available means you’re less likely to reach for less nutritious options out of convenience. For a super nutritious option, subscribe to Athletic Greens for monthly subscription, one scoop of this green miracle garden is loaded with 75 high-quality vitamins, minerals, and whole-food sourced nutrients to support optimal health of the brain, body, and gut. Available to order on/line and with shipping to most countries globally (https://drinkag1.com/).
Traveling can be dehydrating, and dehydration often masquerades as hunger. I always opt for water over sugary drinks and carry a reusable water bottle to stay adequately hydrated throughout my journey. Proper hydration not only supports your body's functions but also helps control unnecessary cravings.
Rather than relying solely on restaurant meals, explore local markets for fresh fruits, vegetables, and other nutritious options. This has always allowed me to experience the local culinary scene whilst still making mindful choices about what goes in my body.
When dining out, aim for balanced meals that include a mix of lean proteins, whole grains, and a variety of colorful vegetables. Most cuisines offer a range of options, allowing you to indulge your taste buds without compromising your health. I avoid processed food as it is often highly inflammatory and depletes energy levels significantly. Be mindful of poor-quality cooking oil used at many restaurants and if in doubt, do not shy away from asking the staff what kind of oil has been used.
Maintaining an exercise routine while traveling can seem daunting, but with a bit of creativity and commitment, you can stay active and even discover new ways to keep fit.
Take advantage of your new surroundings by incorporating outdoor activities into your itinerary. Whether it's hiking, biking, or even a scenic jog, exploring my destinations on foot provides me with not only a workout but also allows me to immerse in the local culture. I prefer running when traveling to countries with comfortable climate, especially in the summertime when days are longer.
You don't need a fully equipped gym to stay fit while on the road. Many effective workouts can be done in the comfort of your hotel room. I believe bodyweight exercises, yoga, and simple resistance band workouts are excellent options that require minimal space and equipment.
Instead of waiting for that one-hour window to hit the gym, prioritize movement throughout your day. I enjoy taking the stairs, walking to nearby attractions, and exploring my surroundings on foot. Small, consistent efforts add up and contribute to maintaining fitness levels.
In the digital age, fitness is at your fingertips. Download workout apps that cater to your fitness level and preferences. I work with many applications that offer quick, effective workouts that can be done anywhere, requiring minimal time commitment and equipment. Nike’s NTC app is incredibly good and offers a wide range of workouts and with various duration (https://www.nike.com/ntc-app).
A well-rounded approach to health includes not just what you eat and how you exercise but also how you rest and make daily choices that contribute to your overall well-being.
Traveling often disrupts sleep patterns, leading to fatigue and weakened immunity. I prioritize sleep by creating a conducive sleep environment in my accommodation. Invest in blackout curtains, maintain a consistent sleep schedule, and consider using sleep masks or white noise machines to enhance the quality of your rest. A smart ring such as Oura ring monitors sleep quality and indicates when you need to rest.
Being on vacation doesn't mean abandoning healthy habits. Use the flexibility of your schedule to make mindful choices throughout the day. This could quite simply include opting for a leisurely morning walk or choosing a local dish with fresh ingredients. I specifically take time out for meditation, oftentimes to center myself amidst the excitement of exploration and other work-related commitments following critical deadlines.
It's unrealistic to expect complete deprivation on vacation, and that's okay. If you find yourself faced with a tempting dessert or a local specialty, indulge mindfully. Savor the flavors, share with a travel companion, and be conscious of portion sizes. My advice is not eliminating treats but enjoying them in moderation.
Travel can disrupt your usual routine, including your supplement regimen. I normally pack essential vitamins and supplements to support my immune system and overall well-being as it is particularly important when exposed to new environments and potential dietary variations. Your daily portion of Athletic Greens boosts your immune system and helps your body get the required nutrition on daily basis, no matter where you are in the world and how fond you are of the local cuisine.
Your holiday doesn't have to kick you out from your fitness regimen and healthy lifestyle. In fact, it can be an opportunity to elevate your well-being.
By embracing mindful eating combined with intermittent fasting, staying active with my creative workout routines, prioritizing sleep, and making conscious day-to-day choices, I have returned from my travels not just with memories but also with a sense of accomplishment and a healthier version of myself.
So, pack your sneakers, plan your meals and supplements thoughtfully, and embark on a journey that nourishes both your wanderlust and your well-being. Your body and mind will thank you for it!

What is a Tunic?
Before we dive into the versatility of the tunic, it's important to define what it is. A tunic is a loose-fitting garment that typically falls somewhere between the hips and the knees. It's usually made of lightweight fabric, which makes it perfect for warm weather. The tunic has a long history, dating back to ancient Greece and Rome, and has been worn by both men and women throughout history. Today, the tunic has become a staple in women's wardrobes, especially during the summer months.
Why Tunics are Perfect for the Beach
Now that we've defined what a tunic is, let's dive into why it's the perfect piece to bring on your next beach vacation. Firstly, tunics are incredibly lightweight and breathable, which makes them ideal for wearing in warm weather. You don't want to be weighed down by heavy fabrics when you're trying to stay cool in the sun. Additionally, tunics are typically made of quick-drying fabric, which is perfect for throwing on over your swimsuit after a dip in the ocean.
Another reason why tunics are perfect for the beach is because of their versatility. You can wear a tunic as a cover-up over your swimsuit during the day, and then dress it up with some accessories for a night out. This means that you can pack less and still have plenty of outfit options. Plus, tunics are incredibly comfortable, which means you can wear them all day long without feeling constricted or uncomfortable.
Styling Your Tunic for the Beach
Now that we've established why tunics are perfect for the beach, let's dive into how you can style them for a variety of different occasions. Below are some ideas to get you started.
As a Cover-Up: One of the most popular ways to wear a tunic at the beach is as a cover-up over your swimsuit. Simply slip it on over your bikini or one-piece, and you're ready to go. You can opt for a more casual look with a simple cotton tunic, or dress it up with a more embellished option.
With Shorts: If you're planning on doing some exploring during your beach vacation, wearing a tunic with shorts is a great option. Not only will you stay cool and comfortable, but you'll also look stylish and put together. You can opt for denim shorts for a more casual look, or dress it up with a pair of tailored shorts.
With Pants: If you're looking for a more formal option, wearing a tunic with pants is a great choice. This works particularly well for a beachside dinner or a night out. Opt for a pair of linen or silk pants for a more dressed-up look.
Belted: If you want to add some shape to your tunic, consider belting it at the waist. This will cinch in your waist and create a more defined silhouette. You can opt for a simple leather belt for a more casual look, or a more embellished option for a night out.
Layered: If you're worried about getting cold in the evening, consider layering your tunic with a light jacket or cardigan. This is a great way to stay warm while still looking stylish. You can opt for a denim jacket for a more casual look, or a lightweight cardigan for a more dressed-up option.
Accessorized: Adding accessories to your tunic is a great way to dress it up and make it feel more formal. Consider adding a statement necklace or earrings, or a pair of strappy sandals. You can also add a hat to protect your face from the sun, while also adding a stylish element to your outfit.
When it comes to selecting a tunic for your beach vacation, there are a few things to keep in mind. Firstly, you want to make sure that the fabric is lightweight and breathable, so that you stay cool and comfortable in the sun. Additionally, consider the length of the tunic - if you're planning on wearing it as a cover-up, you may want something that falls just above the knee, while if you're planning on dressing it up, a longer tunic may be more appropriate.
Tunics are the perfect piece to bring on your next beach vacation. Not only are they incredibly versatile, but they're also lightweight, breathable, and comfortable. Whether you're wearing it as a cover-up over your swimsuit or dressing it up for a night out, there are endless ways to style a tunic. When selecting a tunic, make sure to consider the fabric and length, and don't be afraid to add accessories to make it feel more formal. By packing a tunic on your next beach vacation, you'll be prepared for any occasion that comes your way.

Choose the Right Fabric
When it comes to embroidery, the right fabric can make all the difference. The ideal fabric for embroidery is one that has a tight weave, so the embroidery stitches don't pull or warp the fabric. Additionally, natural fabrics like cotton, linen, or silk are the best choices for embroidery because they hold the thread well and don't fray easily.
When shopping for embroidered resort wear, look for pieces that are made of high-quality fabrics. You want to make sure that the embroidery is done on a durable fabric that won't easily snag or pull. Some of the most popular resort wear fabrics include cotton voile, silk crepe de chine, and linen. These fabrics are not only breathable and comfortable to wear in warmer weather, but they also hold embroidery well and give your resort wear an elegant touch.
Start with Small Details
If you're new to the world of embroidery, it's best to start small. Instead of diving headfirst into an elaborate embroidery design, begin by adding small embroidered details to your resort wear. For instance, you can add embroidered flowers or vines to the hemline of a maxi dress or embroidered trim to the sleeves of a beach cover-up. These small details can give your resort wear an elegant touch without overwhelming the entire outfit.
When choosing a design, keep in mind the overall style of your resort wear. If you're going for a bohemian vibe, opt for embroidery with a whimsical touch, such as flowers or feathers. If you want a more classic look, choose embroidery with a simple, geometric design. Don't be afraid to experiment with different designs and colors until you find the perfect embroidered detail that fits your personal style.
Mix and Match with Prints
One of the best things about resort wear is the playful prints that dominate the style. However, just because you're adding embroidered details to your resort wear doesn't mean you have to ditch the prints altogether. In fact, mixing and matching prints and embroidery can add a unique touch to your outfit.
When mixing prints and embroidery, it's important to choose patterns that complement each other. For instance, if you're wearing a floral-printed maxi dress, add embroidered flowers in a similar color palette to the hemline or neckline. If you're wearing a striped beach cover-up, add embroidered details in a solid color that matches one of the stripe colors. Mixing prints and embroidery can take some practice, but when done right, it can add an extra level of elegance and sophistication to your resort wear.
Accessorize with Embroidery
If you're not ready to commit to embroidered resort wear just yet, there are other ways to incorporate this detail into your spring wardrobe. One of the easiest ways to add embroidery to your resort wear is through accessories. Embroidered hats, bags, and sandals can give your outfit a touch of elegance without overwhelming it.
When choosing embroidered accessories, look for pieces that complement your resort wear. For instance, if you're wearing a white linen dress, opt for an embroidered clutch with colorful flowers to add a pop of color. If you're wearing a beach cover-up with a bold print, choose embroidered sandals in a neutral color to balance.

The Printed Mini Dress
Printed mini dresses are perfect for a fun beach look. They come in a variety of patterns, from floral to animal print, and they are perfect for showing off your personality. Choose a print mini dress with a bold pattern for a more daring look or choose a print mini dress with a more subtle pattern for a more classic look. Pair it with some wedge sandals and a crossbody bag for a complete beach look.
The Embroidered Mini Dress
Embroidered mini dresses are a must-have for any beach wardrobe. They are elegant, feminine, and perfect for a romantic beach look. Choose an embroidered mini dress with a floral pattern for a classic look or choose an embroidered mini dress with a more modern design for a contemporary look. Pair it with some sandals and statement jewelry for a complete beach look.
The Linen Mini Dress
Linen mini dresses are perfect for a casual beach look. They are comfortable, lightweight, and perfect for hot weather. Choose a linen mini dress in a neutral color like beige or white for a classic look, or choose a linen mini dress in a bright color for a more fun look. Pair it with some flip-flops and a sun hat for a complete beach look.
The Ruffled Mini Dress
Ruffles add a touch of femininity to any outfit, and the mini dress is no exception. A ruffled mini dress is perfect for a day at the beach because it’s light, airy, and comfortable. Choose a ruffled mini dress with a bright color or bold print to make a statement on the beach. Pair it with some espadrilles and a floppy hat for a chic beach look.
The Maxi Dress
Okay, so a maxi dress isn't exactly a mini dress, but it's still a must-have for your spring beach wardrobe. Maxi dresses are perfect for a more formal beach event, such as a beach wedding or dinner on the beach. They are elegant and flowy, and they come in a variety of styles and colors. Choose a maxi dress with a high slit for a more daring look or a maxi dress with a flowing skirt for a more romantic look. Pair it with some heels and statement jewelry for a complete beach look.
Mini dresses are an essential piece to have in your spring beach wardrobe. From the classic elegance of embroidered and linen mini dresses to the playful and trendy volume and ruffle decorated mini dresses, there is a style for every beach occasion. The print and maxi mini dresses are perfect for adding a pop of personality and a touch of sophistication to your beach look. No matter which mini dress you choose, don't forget to complete your outfit with the right accessories to create the perfect beach vibe. So, embrace the warmer weather and add some mini madness to your beach wardrobe this spring!

Tips on How to Make the Most of Your Winter Escape
If you're looking to make the most of your winter escape, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First and foremost, remember that the Maldives and Seychelles experience very different weather patterns and is humid. Clothes made of natural fibers is key.
For the Maldives, December is peak season because it's more dry, so expect prices to be higher than usual. However, if you want to skip the crowds and get lower prices, consider visiting during monsoon season (May-November). In general, the best time to visit is from mid October to early April when temperatures are cooler and the weather is drier.
The Seychelles on the other hand will have lots of rain in November and December but temperatures still remain warm. January and February are also great times to visit as winds gust at lower speeds and bring cooler temperatures perfect for outdoor activities. Keep in mind that if you plan on spending most of your time outdoors you may want to visit later in the winter months when Seychelles has less rain.
Scarlett Poppies carries a wide range for your ultimate destination travel. You will find anything from relaxed, comfortable beach cover-ups to timeless and classy, yet relaxed dresses for dinners by the seaside.
Pack your items with tissue paper in between to avoid sharp lines and creases, and rack them up at final destination immediately upon arrival. Normally the humidity will take care of the creases and leave the garments, with that perfect effortlessly cool look.
Bon Voyage!

]]>You want something effortless yet stylish that will let you enjoy the sun and sand, but you don't want to feel weighed down or uncomfortable the whole time. Sound familiar? We've all been there.
But what if we told you that there's a way to dress comfortably and stylishly—without sacrificing your values or the environment? It's all about choosing the right materials. In this article, we'll show you how to dress comfortably and sustainably with natural materials.
Understanding Natural Fabrics
Not all fabrics are created equal, and some are much more comfortable and sustainable than others. Natural fabrics, such as cotton, wool, and linen, are made from materials that come from the earth. They're breathable, which makes them more comfortable in warm weather, and they're durable, which makes them a good choice for everyday wear.
Synthetic fabrics, on the other hand, are made from oils, same as any plastic materials. They're not as breathable as natural fabrics, which can make them uncomfortable in warm weather. Lower quality of manmade fibers also tend to attract an odd odour over time, which makes the garment feel old and dirty.
Introducing Cotton
Cotton is one of the oldest fabrics in the world, and it's still a favorite today because of its comfort and sustainability.
Cotton is a natural fiber that comes from the cotton plant. It's soft, durable and breathable, making it a perfect choice for clothes that need to be comfortable and practical. Plus, cotton is sustainable, meaning it can be grown and harvested without damaging the environment, however not all cotton grows in conditions that are less harmless for the environment.
That's why cotton is such a popular choice for clothes and bedding. It's comfortable and sustainable, making it the perfect choice for people who care about both their comfort and the environment.
Tips for Selecting Linen
When selecting linen for your comfort, there are a few things to look for.
The most important is the weight of the linen. Heavier linen will be more durable and less likely to wrinkle. However, it will also be a bit warmer to wear in warm weather. If you live in a hotter climate, or plan to wear your linen outfit during summer months, go with a heavier weight fabric.
Another thing to consider is the color of the linen. Pure white linen is the classic choice, but it can show dirt and stains more easily than other colors. Beige or other natural colors are a good choice if you're looking for a more muted look.
What About Sustainable Materials?
It’s no secret that natural fibers such as cotton, silk, and wool are more sustainable than synthetic ones like polyester. Natural materials are biodegradable and make use of renewable resources in their production. Plus, they’re usually softer and kinder on your skin, making them much more comfortable to wear.
When looking for items made of natural materials, reach for clothing made of organic cotton or linen. Organic cotton is grown without the use of harsh pesticides and fertilizers, while linen is made from the fibers of flax plants. Both are breathable and offer great insulation properties against heat or cold.
Designing With Natural Fabrics
Natural fabrics are widely available and are a great way to create comfortable and a more eco-friendly fashion. From linen to hemp, there is an almost endless list of choices for the fashion conscious among us.
When choosing the fabrics for your wardrobe, pay close attention to the origin of your fabric as this will be a key factor in deciding if it is sustainable or not. Natural fabrics such as wool should be sourced from farms with good animal welfare standards while cotton should be organic to avoid damaging agricultural chemicals. Additionally, look for suppliers that use ethical manufacturing processes and low impact dyes when possible.
Hemp, bamboo, and silk are just a few of the other eco-friendly materials you can find when shopping for sustainable fashion. Not only do these natural fibers feel incredibly soft on your skin, they also come with many other advantages such as being breathable and wick away moisture which is great for hot climates or days spent outdoors.
Final Thoughts on Comfort and Sustainability in Resort Wear
Now that you know how to dress comfortably and sustainably with natural materials, it’s time for you to get shopping. Keep in mind that comfort starts with the choice of fabric and that natural materials such as cotton, wool, bamboo, and hemp are all great options. You can also look for materials like linen or lyocell which are lighter and softer.
When choosing prints or patterns, look for those that are made out of sustainable inks such as water-based inks or vegetable-based dyes. Look for sustainable wear that is locally sourced or produced using ethical manufacturing practices. And don't forget to check the labels for certifications like Fairtrade or GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).
By making conscious choices when shopping for resort wear, you can stay comfortable while taking care of the planet at the same time!
And remember that the greatest impact of all on the environment is to buy less and buy better quality - timeless clothes transcending seasons. That’s the power that lies with the consumers and where each of us can easily contribute to making a difference for a better tomorrow.

“We source our unique collection from across the globe and curate our stores with loads of love and attention to detail. Coco Indigo’s owner Elisabeth Dupee aims to bring Mediterranean vibes to Winter Park with her elegant collection of clothing and home décor. Her team even includes talented dressmakers who worked for Valentino, an Italian luxury fashion house, for 20 years and have “amazing experience with incredible attention to detail.”
“I was inspired by the luminescent and seductive shades of the Mediterranean Sea and the playful elegance of the 1950s Riviera life along the Côte d’Azur,” Dupee said. “It was all about impeccable manners and style, along with irresistible charm and romance. So, I wanted to recreate the same alluringly elegant lifestyle feel, offering both home and fashion in a Mediterranean palette of deep rich blues, crisp whites, and sandy neutrals.”
Coco Indigo’s private label features unique fashion and accessories, including exotic baroque pearl jewelry sourced from the South Seas and handmade by Italian artisans, along with woven hats, bags, sandals, scarves, and cashmere. Coco Indigo also offers one-of-a-kind home décor, including table lamps, picture frames, knit throws, and more, that evokes the “blended aesthetic of relaxed elegance, timeless sophistication, and free-spirited bohemian.”

After living in London for the past five years, Dupee found herself on the other side of the Atlantic when COVID-19 hit. In the months following, she fell in love with Winter Park after her husband’s company moved its headquarters to Orlando. Dupee, who had worked for a decade as a partner-owner at Coco Blanca, a similar concept located in Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, was then inspired to open a shop in the area.
“After moving to London, I missed Coco Blanca tremendously, and my passion for starting another lifestyle business kept growing,” Dupee said. “So, when 2021 rolled in, I decided to start fresh and immediately went to work designing my own label and business plan for Coco Indigo.”
“Winter Park reminds me of where I grew up on Skaneateles Lake in upstate New York, as well as where my mother grew up in Lucerne, Switzerland. It’s such a happy place where people are incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and genuine.”

She is on a mission to get the world to look and feel fabulous again, ushering away the fashion laziness born out of the killjoy pandemic. She wants to elevate the everyday look and bring back the joy and spirit of living beautifully.

Shimmering water and majestic, elegant peacocks inspired us while creating this collection, featuring bold sleeves and bright colours, but also exquisite embroidery and applique details in unexpected fabric combinations, light and airy as the sea breeze.
Peacocks – the symbol of beauty - is expressed in different ways, from feather-inspired prints to Broderie Anglaise artworks and unexpected placement embroideries.
With Shimmers, we are also introducing softest cashmere pieces. Refreshingly simple, yet thoughtful and utterly feminine companions to transcend seasons.
Be naturally bold and beautiful. Just like a peacock.
3 AM was the set alarm time for the day of the Shimmers photoshoot, to reach our stunning shoot location at a rustic beach just outside Fujairah, a few hours’ drive from urban Dubai.
We got there just on time to witness the stunning sunrise; the morning sun reflecting on the blue-calm water and the overwhelming peacefulness that only untouched nature brings.
The setting was stunning, the chaos was real and the end result is a photoshoot with magical images, taking us back to the true core essence of Scarlett Poppies' brand.

Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what we as individuals receive, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, we acknowledge the goodness in our lives. In this process, we usually recognize that the source of that goodness lies at least partially outside ourselves. As a result, gratitude also helps us connect to something larger than ourselves as individuals — whether to other people, nature or a higher power.
In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps us feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, deal with adversity, improves our health and builds strong relationships.
We feel and express gratitude in multiple ways. We can apply it to the past (retrieving positive memories and being thankful for elements of childhood or past blessings), the present (not taking good fortune for granted as it comes), and the future (maintaining a hopeful and optimistic attitude). Regardless of the inherent or current level of someone's gratitude, it is a quality that individuals can successfully cultivate further – and it is for everyone.
How can we practice gratitude in small simple ways?
Write a thank-you note. You can make yourself happier and nurture your relationship with another person by writing a thank-you letter expressing your enjoyment and appreciation of that person's impact on your life. Send it, or better yet, deliver and read it in person if possible. Make a habit of sending at least one gratitude letter a month. Once in a while, write one to yourself.
Thank someone mentally. No time to write? It may help just to think about someone who has done something nice for you, and mentally thank the individual.
Keep a gratitude journal. Make it a habit to write down or share with a loved one thoughts about the gifts you have received each day. It is proven to be one of the best ways to round off a busy day and set yourself up for good quality sleep.
Count your blessings. Pick a time every week to sit down and write about your blessings, reflecting on what went right or what you are grateful for. Sometimes it helps to pick a number, such as three to five things, that you will identify each week. As you write, be specific and think about the sensations you felt when something good happened to you.
Meditate. Mindfulness meditation involves focusing on the present moment without judgment. Although people often focus on a word or phrase (such as "peace"), it is also possible to focus on what you are grateful for (the warmth of the sun, a pleasant sound, etc.).
Gratitude exercise every evening. Before you go to bed, spare five minutes and reflect on your day and 5 things to be grateful for. By doing this your mind automatically focuses on what is good rather than the opposite, and it gives a nice feeling of satisfaction and appreciation for what you have actually got in your life.
A moment of gratitude makes a difference in your attitude.🖤
Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness: it’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.

]]>However, rest is a fundamental part of success, health, and happiness. There are many distractions in this digital world, and always something (or someone) requiring your attention. No matter what your schedule or task list may look like, resting and unplugging is vital to your long-term health. Here's why!
The human body is built to thrive in a series of short sprints. This is why taking a break—even only for a few minutes—can offer you the refresh you need to persevere through your day. Breaks are brief cessations to work, physical exertion, or emotional stress. They promote mental health, boost creativity, increase productivity, promote well-being, reduce stress, improve mood, and strengthen relationships.
The amount of rest required depends on your individual needs. If you didn't sleep well, feel angry, or stressed, you may require more frequent breaks.
Adequate rest helps your body activate its inner healing cascade and return to a state of homeostasis. This is when your body can repair and recover.
Stress is an intrinsic aspect of life. For some, it may act as a stimulant, but for others, it feels more like a burden. Most definitions of stress invoke an internal or external challenge, disturbance, or stimulus, the perception of a challenge or physiologic response. Chronic stress suppresses your immune system and increases your risk of disease.
During stress, your body experiences fight or flight—physiological arousal—heightening your senses due to perceived danger. You may experience an increased heart rate and blood pressure during this state, slowed digestive functioning, increased hormone levels (like cortisol), and other responses.
The flight-or-flight response was the body's original means of survival during ancient history. It allowed our ancestors to protect themselves from unthinkable circumstances quickly. However, in the modern world, this response can be experienced numerous times and in various situations.
Resting activates the parasympathetic nervous system—the opposite of the sympathetic nervous system, which is the flight-or-fight response.
When you take time to rest and relax, you are naturally more creative. Time off helps you refill your reserves. The quiet moments inspire reflection time, allowing you to break through creative barriers.
Functional connectivity of brain data measures synchronized patterns of spontaneous brain activation during rest. As a result, you experience increasing solutions to open-ended problems, such as inventing new uses for objects.
Similar to other muscles, your brain is less functional when it's fatigued. You're always more productive after a restful period—one reason why Mondays are often filled with high importance tasks or meetings; resting sharpens your brain.
Taking time off will allow you to work more efficiently whenever you get back to it. Set aside one day each week to unplug to improve productivity and feel a greater sense of accomplishment.
The term "sleep on it" is accurate because rest improves your ability to make decisions. Working too long without rest reduces your concentration and can depreciate your emotional capacity.
Regularly scheduled breaks—daily and weekly—allows you to refresh your perspective, and in turn, make better decisions.
Rest is only significant when you purposefully do it. Here are some techniques you can implement in your daily schedule.
When life is busy, and task lists pile up, pencil rest into your schedule just as you would a meeting or appointment. Develop simple routines for your day that cue you to rest; it will make relaxing a breeze.
1.Practice Gratitude
Most people focus on the 'big' things they're grateful for—instead, refocus your gratitude on the little things. Research suggests positive thoughts and a grateful mind are more likely to create a happy disposition and boost overall satisfaction.
2.Take Deep Breaths
Set a goal to take five deep breaths throughout your day. Cue yourself at different intervals, which may be in an ordinary routine, i.e., in the morning while your coffee or tea brews or while you wait for your computer to turn on.
3.Cultivate Healthy Habits
Exercise reduces the adverse effects of stress, improves mood, and regulates neurotransmitters and other hormones. For optimal zen, try restful movements like yoga or stretching.
Mindfully practice relaxation; it is an essential aspect of life and should carry a similar weight to career objectives and other to-dos. By turning your body "off" periodically, you can significantly improve your physical, emotional, and mental health.
4.Practice Sleep Hygiene
Getting adequate sleep is vital for physical and mental health. Often, good sleep starts with good habits. Practice sleep hygiene by optimizing your sleep schedule, pre-bed routine, and daily routines—doing so will make quality sleep automatic.
Set a sleeping schedule with fixed wake-up times—making gradual adjustments to shift sleep times as necessary.
Follow a nightly routine and keep it consistent. Partake in a ritual that may include spiritual nourishment like meditation before bed. Unplug from electronics 30-60 minutes before bedtime, and dim your lights to allow your body’s natural melatonin production.
With wishes for a healthier and more peaceful life ahead!🖤

]]>In this article, learn about the health benefits of staying hydrated and the five best tips for staying hydrated.
]]>In this article, learn about the health benefits of staying hydrated and the five best tips for staying hydrated.
Before diving into the tips for staying hydrated, it’s important to understand why hydration matters. Staying well-hydrated is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.
The human body is about 50-70% water, and maintaining the right balance of water and electrolytes (such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium) allows your body to function properly. Every system in your body depends on water to function. Water plays an important role in regulating body temperature, providing moisture to skin and tissues, carrying nutrients to cells, cushioning joints, and supporting healthy bowel movements.
Most people have heard the common recommendation to drink eight, 8-ounce glasses of water per day. Although this is an excellent place to start, there is really no research to support this exact amount.
So, how much water do you need to drink to stay hydrated?
Individual fluid needs vary. No one set amount is right for everyone. Fluid needs depend on several factors, including age, body size, health status, pregnancy or breastfeeding, sweat lost through physical activity, environment, and even altitude.
The Institute of Medicine developed general recommendations for healthy adults. They recommend about 11 cups of fluid for women and 15 cups of fluid for men per day. That sounds like a lot. But keep in mind, that includes fluid from all of your beverages and even the water in your foods – not just drinking water.
Here are some tips to help you increase your water intake:
Certain health conditions, lifestyle, and environment affect how much fluid you need. Below are some examples:
Pregnant women and breastfeeding moms need extra fluids. Staying well-hydrated is crucial during pregnancy to keep both mom and baby healthy. Breastfeeding moms also need to stay well hydrated to help maintain their milk supply.
People with a history of kidney stones need to drink more fluids to help decrease the risk of stone recurrence. Many experts recommend drinking enough fluid to produce at least 2 liters (68 ounces) of urine per day.
People with certain medical conditions like congestive heart failure or kidney failure may need to drink less fluids. Always discuss with your healthcare provider and follow the recommendations they provide.
Athletes or anyone exercising in the heat and/or humidity need extra fluid to replace what is lost through sweat. Even a slight (2%) decrease in body water can cause dehydration and negatively affect performance. Further water loss can lead to other potentially harmful changes such as increased heart rate and body temperature, dizziness, fatigue, and heat illness.
To figure out how much fluid you need, weigh yourself before starting your exercise, and again after you are finished. Drink about two cups (16 ounces) of fluid for each pound lost during exercise.
Drinking plain water during exercise is adequate for most people. Some people, however, want to know when sports drinks are appropriate for hydration. For those doing moderate to intense exercise for 60 to 90 minutes or more, especially in a hot or humid environment, a sports drink is recommended. Sports drinks contain carbohydrates, sodium, and potassium for rehydration, refueling, and electrolyte loss.
If you get bored with plain water, try to drink other types of fluids throughout the day. Here are some healthy hydration tips if you’re struggling to drink enough water throughout the day:
Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables is a great way to help you stay hydrated. It is estimated that about 20% of your daily water intake comes from foods.
All foods contain some water. Fruits and vegetables top the list with 80-98% water. Some of the fruits and vegetables with the highest water content include watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, cucumber, celery, and spinach. Each of these fruits and veggies contain at least 90% water.
Take advantage of all the delicious choices and be sure to include a good variety in your diet each day.
Your body will often tell you if you are dehydrated. If you experience any of the following signs of dehydration, you should try to replenish your fluids as soon as possible.
If you have trouble knowing whether you are hydrated, pay attention to the color of your urine. Yellow or dark-colored urine usually means that you are not drinking enough water and are dehydrated. The goal is to take in enough fluids so that your urine stays pale in color, and you feel the need to urinate every 2-4 hours. Urinating significantly less often than you normally do is also a sign that you need more water.
Being thirsty is often the first sign that you need to drink more water. For most people, drinking to quench thirst is an effective way to stay hydrated. This is not always true. Your sense of thirst declines with age; thus, older people could be dehydrated but not feel thirsty. Also, when you sweat a lot while exercising or working in the heat, you may need to drink more than the amount required to quench your thirst.
Dehydration headaches can range from mild to as severe as a migraine. When you are dehydrated, your brain can shrink slightly and pull away from the skull. This causes pain, resulting in a headache. Once hydrated, the brain goes back to its normal size, and the headache subsides.
Studies have shown that dehydration causes fatigue and decreased performance during exercise. You don’t have to be exercising for dehydration to zap your energy level. Mild dehydration has also been linked to fatigue and sleepiness during normal daily activities.
Loss of fluid and sodium through sweat can cause the muscles to contract or spasm. To prevent muscle cramping, drink enough fluid. Generally, the sodium in your food is enough, but if you know you are going to have an active day in the heat, drinking a sports drink may help.
Dehydration can cause a drop in blood pressure, which may make you feel dizzy or light-headed. When you are dehydrated, your blood volume decreases, which lowers pressure on the artery walls. This can result in low blood pressure.
Your skin cells need water to function properly. Skin turgor is the skin’s ability to change shape and return to normal. Dehydration causes your skin to lose its turgor or elasticity. When well-hydrated skin is pinched, it should return to its normal shape immediately. If it does not, it is a sign that you need more water.
There’s nothing more important when it comes to dealing with the hot weather than dressing yourself properly. What SHOULD you wear? We recommend embracing our linen wardrobe. Enjoy the comfort that linen provides. Linen always looks fresh and understated – never under- or over-dressed.
The benefits with linen are quite unique as are the characteristic crinkles that are unavoidable when wearing linen. And which we are totally okay with it as that’s just how linen is.
Linen is breathable and hence regulates temperature, it absorbs moisture in a magical way and it reflects the heat. If ever in doubt what to choose for your summer wardrobe, when comfort matters – aim for linen!
]]>Knowing what to wear in Europe in summer is vital to your travel adventures. Here are our recommendations:
Dresses are one of the most perfect outfits to pack and wear in Europe in the summertime as the weather in most cities in Europe can get too hot. Most European would wear their elegant and chic dresses while walking around the European cobblestone streets. One of the good things about wearing a dress in Europe is that you can easily dress it up for nighttime wear for dinner and or you can semi-dress it up during daytime for sightseeing to enjoy the scenery of the tourist attractions.
We highly recommend packing all kinds of summer tops in Europe. They are perfect for layering and taking you through the normally warmer day time to the cooler evenings with just a cardigan on top. Bring a few tops – with and without sleeves - and you will maximize your outfits by mixing and matching them with jeans and shorts.
A few pair of versatile shorts that you can dress up and down is especially essential to pack during a summer in Europe. When the sun is shining and it’s hot outside, shorts are comfy and perfect for solo travel. Opt for a dark color that won’t easily show that you’ve worn them more than a few times between washes. A material that doesn’t wrinkle easily is also a brilliant option in the likely event you won’t always have access to an iron. Classic jeans shorts is a must-have for any summer trip, dress it up with a beautiful high quality embroidery top or for a more casual look, just a plain, white tank top and a statement bag.
Jumpsuits are all-in-one garments that women can wear to give a powerful fashion statement. It can be a stylish staple in any wardrobe and can be used for different seasons – but perfect for the summer and the fact that it is so effortless and easy.
For a more sustainable approach to your travel wardrobe, choose dresses that have detachable slip dresses. You can then wear the outer layer as a beach cover up and together with the slip dress, it becomes a perfect summer dress.
Choose colors that are easy to match up, and always carry an emergency cashmere sweater for cold moments. The weather across Europe never cease to surprise!
Remember to bring the right accessories, and also sunglasses and relevant swimwear, being aligned with the rest of your travel wardrobe.
Bon voyage!🖤

]]>In terms of consciousness, this is the time when we are the most present to ourselves and who we know ourselves to be — the Sun represents the light of all life and consciousness. Seeds are planted in the Earth as well as the seeds of our souls. It’s a time of renewal and abundance, a time of love and expansion, as the summer sun unfolds the leaves on the trees, so do our souls open to receive the light of source to illuminate that which is within each of us.
Summer Solstice 2022 in the Northern Hemisphere was on Tuesday, June 21, at 5:14 AM Eastern Standard Time, or 11:13 AM Central European Time.
Origins and Meaning
The Solstice signifies the time when the Earth is at the fullness of her strength, fertility, and abundance, so we too can celebrate our strength in joining together, pollinating our spiritual consciousness through sharing, and offering gratitude for the abundance that which we experience daily.
The word “Solstice” is derived from the Latin words Sol+systere, meaning “Sun”+ “standing still.” The Summer Solstice is the longest day and the shortest night of the year. Following this Solstice, the days get shorter, the nights longer.
As we observe the blossoming of life all around us, we can receive the energy of vitality and experience awe for the generosity of the Earth, which provides for us everything that we need.
Midsummer in Sweden – a cherished tradition
The successful midsummer never-ending lunch party formula involves flowers in your hair, dancing around a pole, singing songs while drinking unsweetened, flavoured schnapps. And downing a whole load of pickled herring served with delightful new potatoes, chives and sour cream. All in all, a grand day out.
Swedes celebrate Midsummer in parks, gardens and summerhouses – in fact, anywhere in Sweden will do as long as it is outdoors. If you're not lucky enough to get an invite to a summerhouse, a safe bet to celebrate with Swedish friends (that you don't know yet) is to visit a public park.
We celebrate summer all year long
Scarlett Poppies features mainly resort wear, suitable for regular summer clothing, your ultimate summer holiday ensemble or all-around the year for those being privileged to living in the sunshine. Our collections range from dresses, tops, tunics, jumpsuits to true beach cover-ups such as kimonos and kaftan dresses etc. Comfort and easy breezy materials are key.
]]>Dainty Day Dresses
A simple sundress is one of the most versatile pieces of the season. You can just as easily wear one as a beach cover-up as you could to a wedding (so long as you have the right accessories). If you pick a good one, the very same dress can be worn on weekend neighborhood strolls, park picnics, or even going out for a cocktail or spritz. Airy and light, a dainty day dress will be the hero piece in your summer wardrobe.
Hello, Legs
This is going to be the summer when we will finally and hopefully see legs and not just exclusively from the waist up through screens. Our legs crave sunshine and are to be seen, and is best done by a heightened hemline. Take your pick between tiered baby dolls, smocked puff sleeve fit and flares, and backless halter necks.
Summer Whites
A simple white dress might not seem like much, but the perfect one can be a cure-all for summer-style problems. Not only are they appropriate for just about every summer occasion, these romantic ruched, tiered, ruffle sleeve versions have been dubbed as summer’s unofficial uniform. From mini to midi dresses, these white day dresses allow for endless accessorizing options. Just swap your footwear, and top it off with a summer bag of your choosing, and your white dress will feel like new every time.
Crafty and Crocheted
With the past year spent mostly virtually, clothing with tactility and visible craftsmanship has been more delightful than ever. Dresses you can touch and feel—whether it’s a colorful crocheted knit, or a sundress with 3D floral appliques, or a split fabric tank dress with a bit of fringe–these textured dresses are totally swoon-worthy for summer 2022.
Cut It Out
Since reemergence began, we have started to see cutouts in almost every silhouette—from bikinis to bodysuits, tops, and, of course, dresses. For a subtly sexy summer dress, consider one with a waist cut out or a low back. Thanks to their midi lengths, these dresses won’t ever feel overly revealing or too much like a club-ready number. In simple solid colors, you’ll have no problem dressing these up with heels and a clutch for hot summer nights or with flat sandals and a sun hat for warm summer days.
]]>A stylish pair of sunglasses not only enhances your look but also protects you from the sun and the heat. This accessory should be a fundamental one in your daily life, especially if you live in countries blessed with lots of sunshine.
So, what should you be looking for exactly? Here’s a brief list of what to look for when choosing sunglasses for the beach and beyond:
]]>A stylish pair of sunglasses not only enhances your look but also protects you from the sun and the heat. This accessory should be a fundamental one in your daily life, especially if you live in countries blessed with lots of sunshine.
So, what should you be looking for exactly? Here’s a brief list of what to look for when choosing sunglasses for the beach and beyond:
1. Full UV Protection
When you say beach, you automatically think of the sun and heat. Therefore, it is a no-brainer for anyone to buy a pair of shades that has full protection against. Although some of the best sunglasses for everyday use do have UV protection, the pairs meant for the beach should be fundamental.
2. The Bigger, The Better
As fashion evolves, so do accessories and sunglasses too. Just like the title mentions, the bigger the better!
To all the regular or small-sized sunglasses fans, you are probably asking yourself: What do big oversized sunglasses do to your eyes than smaller ones don’t?
To begin with, big lenses allow you to cover almost the entire part of your eyes. Too often, we forget the importance of protecting the side part of our eyes. Sunglasses with moderate to smaller lens sizes don’t offer the maximum protection needed for long days in the sun when you're at the beach. This is where one stylish element matches practicality.
Oversized sunglasses are termed to be highly fashionable. So, if the solution involves looking good, kicking up your fashion style, and protecting yourself from the dangers of the sun, why wouldn’t you go for it?
3. Polarized Sunglasses
Polarized sunglasses are popular terms and people get excited when listening to such terminology. Polarization does offer a unique level of protection. But many people make the mistake of thinking that polarized lenses can protect from UV rays. The truth is, polarization has no relevance with UV protection. However, it does reduce the light reflections and glare from the sun off of the water surface at the lake, sea and beach. As a result, people often ask if they should go for beach polarized sunglasses. Well, of course! When you look at such any reflective surfaces without polarized sunglasses, your eyes are vulnerable from the light that bounces from there to your eyes.
4. The Right Lens Color
What does lens color have anything to do with the beach? All shades have a tinge of colour variations. If you go back to the first part, we mentioned the lens category of two and above. These will protect you from UV. The higher the category is, the darker the lens will be. However, having the darkest lens will not automatically guarantee full protection from UV rays. In addition, if you’ve visual issues, the chances of wearing it will aggravate your movement.
Different colours offer different aspects of protection. Therefore, you must understand what aspect you need your glasses to protect your eyes from. This is important when you buy any pair of shades for your kids when playing sports. For adults, here are the solutions:

The foundations of what you'll wear when it's warmer are already in place—there's no need to ditch everything each time one of the new seasons comes around. It's more of a case of reconfiguring what's already in your closet and putting a few pieces on ice for when a colder day comes along.
All of the below suggestions will undoubtedly lie within your catalog at home.
Start Wearing: Silk, Cotton, or Linen Pieces
Your favorite jeans still have plenty of mileage during the summer. Just add sandals and lighter cotton, linen, or silk top to finish things off. A basket bag for a summer fresh look always works!
Popular summer pieces like cotton dresses don't take up a lot of space, making it easy to find what you’re looking for when you’re in a pinch. But to make your summer closet the most optimal space for hot weather fun, here are a few tips.
Start wearing lighter shades
Seasonal colors are hues that mirror the shades seen in the four seasons of nature. Each season has its own set of traditional colors that are typically associated with it as well as transitory seasonal colors that are deemed current by the fashion trends of the year. Summer colors are all about Crispy white or natural linen color mixed with vibrant, rich, and bold colors, inspired from the sunshine, ocean, and summer blooms. Have fun in the sun by embracing these bold colors, but don't forget to integrate plenty of white as well - it's the official 'non-color' of the summer season.
Bring Your Frequently Worn Clothing Front and Center
Summer is a great time for lightweight cotton shirts, comfortable clothing, and endless style creativity. But the foundation of your closet should be the essential tops and bottoms that you wear for work and leisure.
Organize your professional and casual wardrobe by designating a section of your hanging clothes for professional tops, slacks, and other business casual clothing. Then, use the other section of your closet to make your casual tops like camisoles and t-shirts easily accessible. Dresses, shorts, and skirts are also great items to store this way. To keep it simple: hang all your clothes in color order, all white dresses followed by natural color etc. Peace to mind in every-day life.
Keep Your Jeans Light
Summer is still a great time to wear jeans, but be careful to not overheat in them. Pick jeans made of lightweight denim or opt for shorts.
However, keep a pair or two of regular-length jeans on hand for a cooler end-of-summer night. They are also useful for times when you know you’re going to spend an extended period indoors, such as at a convention, mall trip, or movie. Jeans shorts are the easy go-to bottom for practically any summer outing. They are especially suited for casual settings, like barbecues and days at the park.
By having a variety of denim at your disposal, you can plan great outfits that serve your needs.
Dressing for Work
Staying professional during the dog days of summer can be tough, but when you keep your summer business casual items at hand reach in your closet, you won’t need to break a sweat at your next meeting. Switch out any button-down shirts made of flannel or thick materials and opt for lightweight women's blouses, short sleeves, and breathable materials
It's also important to check the material of the shirts and bottoms you buy before committing them to your summer wardrobe. While your wool blend sport coat looks great on you, it can make you too hot to focus when the temperatures climb high. Instead, find a blazer or coat of the same cut but with all-season materials to promote air circulation and comfort during the summer. A loose cut linen suit looks great thanks to a soft tailored look and effortless, natural summer creases that only summer spirit allows.
Transitioning from spring to summer is not as much of a chore as other closet changes, but by making these adjustments, you can dress easily every day during the hotter months.
Needless to say, the right shoes and more playful accessories also play an exceptionally important role in what should be an easy, and hassle free Spring to Summer wardrobe transition.

]]>A wide variety of designer tunics online and buying things online are not just a trend these days; it is the best and smartest choice, mainly keeping the current situation in mind.
Tunic women’s tops have become quite a buzz in the fashion world because of their elegance style. It is simple, forgiving for any type of body shape and timeless.
5 Reasons to Get Tunic Tops
1. Comfortable
The loose fit helps you to move comfortably. Depending on the fabric and what you pair them with, tunics can easily be dressed up or down. Silk and cashmere ones are best in the winter, which fit just as well in the daytime with skinny jeans and satin pyjama pants for dinner out. As long as they don’t have a beachy vibe, many cotton tunics can be worn year-round too.
2. Evergreen
Tunics are a classic outfit dating back to the Greek-Roman period; they discovered that a tunic is one of the most versatile clothes a woman can wear. They transcends across seasons and cultural borders.
3. Reliable
Tunics will never let you down. You can wear it like a standard Hawaiian shirt dress, or you can cover it with a couple of high heels. You can wear those elegant, chic tops with a chunky belt for an evening affair, and also a pair of leggings and boots for your share of hiking in the woods.
4. Variety
This classic type of apparel is available in several fabrics to fit the needs of your time zone and your mood. You could wear a corduroy tunic with a pair of your favourite denim on a winter night, as well as a comfortable linen tunic on your recliner.
5. Ideal for All Body Types
Women of every size will find a tunic flatters their figure. A female who believes her arms are her best feature will love the sleeveless versions of these tops, while a woman with wide hips will appreciate being able to wear a long tunic that helps to minimize this part of her body. Short sleeve, long sleeve, three-quarter sleeves, and more are only a few of the options ladies will find when shopping for this type of top.
Other tunic rules:
Sustainable fashion is a term that’s increasingly used (and overused, often with little to back it up) these days, as we all become ever more aware of the serious environmental impact of our clothes —with the industry responsible for a shocking 4 to 10 per cent of global greenhouse-gas emissions every year. But what does sustainable fashion actually mean?
]]>Sustainable fashion is a term that’s increasingly used (and overused, often with little to back it up) these days, as we all become ever more aware of the serious environmental impact of our clothes —with the industry responsible for a shocking 4 to 10 per cent of global greenhouse-gas emissions every year. But what does sustainable fashion actually mean?
In short, it’s an umbrella term for clothes that are created and consumed in a way that can be, quite literally, sustained, while protecting both the environment and those producing garments. That’s why cutting CO2 emissions, addressing overproduction, reducing pollution and waste, supporting biodiversity, and ensuring that garment workers are paid a fair wage and have safe working conditions, are all crucial to the sustainability matrix.
Considering the number of factors involved, there are still too few brands out there currently tackling all of these complex issues, and even those that are will admit that there’s always room for improvement. This means simply shopping for items labelled ‘sustainable’ is not enough; we need to completely rethink our purchasing habits and the way we consume clothes.
So, if you want to ensure your wardrobe is as sustainable as possible moving forward, here’s everything you need to know.
1. Buy less and buy better
It may be a cliché, but the mantra “buy less and buy better” is key when you consider that a staggering 100 billions of garments are being produced globally every year. Before making a purchase, sustainability consultancy Eco-Age’s chief brand officer Harriet Vocking advises that you ask yourself three all-important questions: “What are you buying and why? What do you really need? Will you wear it at least 30 times?”
2. Invest in sustainable fashion brands
Buying better can also mean supporting designers who are promoting sustainable practices, including the likes of Collina Strada, Chopova Lowena, Scarlett Poppies and Bode. some of these brands also use upcycled textiles in their collections and create stunning garments out of dead stock.
Narrowing your search for specific items can also help, whether that’s seeking out brands producing activewear more sustainably (such as Girlfriend Collective and Indigo Luna), swimwear (including Stay Wild Swim and Natasha Tonic) or denim (Outland Denim and Re/Done).
3. Know your materials
Understanding the impact of materials is crucial when it comes to making more sustainable purchases. A good rule of thumb is to avoid virgin synthetics such as polyester—which makes up 55 per cent of clothes globally—as these are derived from fossil fuels and take years to break down. Not all natural materials are made the same: organic cotton, for example, uses significantly less water than conventional cotton and doesn’t use harmful pesticides.
Look for certifications from the Global Organic Textile Standard (for cotton and wool), Leather Working Group (for leather) and Forest Stewardship Council (for viscose) to ensure the materials used to make your clothes have a lower impact on our planet.
4. Ask who made your clothes
With the pandemic highlighting the extreme difficulties faced by garment workers around the world, it’s essential that the people who make our clothes are paid a fair wage and have safe working conditions. Seek out brands who openly disclose information about their factories and their policies around wages and working conditions.
5. Reduce your water footprint
Given that the production of textile uses an astonishing 93 billion cubic metres of water annually — the equivalent to 37m Olympic swimming pools—we should all be more conscious about the water footprint of our clothes. As mentioned previously, organic cotton uses significantly less water than conventional cotton, while the use of low-water dyes also reduces water consumption.
6. Take care of your clothes
Extending the life of your clothes is crucial when it comes to lowering the environmental footprint of your garments, and ensuring they don’t end up clogging landfill sites after just one or two wears. Ensure your clothes last as long as possible by not over-washing them (which will also lower your CO2 emissions and water consumption), as well as repairing them instead of throwing them out.
Learn some tips of how to store and repair you garments.
7. Ensure your clothes have a second life
When clearing out your closet, being conscious about how you dispose of your clothes will help stop them from ending up in landfill. Re-selling your clothes or organising a clothes swap is the best way to ensure they’ll have a second life, as well as donating to charities and organisations that are looking for used clothing. For worn-out pieces that can no longer be repaired for reused, look for recycling schemes specifically for those items, where possible.
]]>1. Flattering Summer Dresses
]]>1. Flattering Summer Dresses
Dresses are perfect for the warmer weather. You can always have something on hand that is loose and relaxing. When looking for summer dresses, think about factors that include your body type, the colors you like, and the kind of fabric that makes sense. Sleeveless is on point for the coming season. Bold patterns let you show off your love of contemporary fashion and help hide more problematic areas. Opt for solid colors to create line if you’re on the shorter side. Our JENNESSA pleated mini strap dress with beads is a perfect example.
2. A Great Swimsuit
Swimsuits are a must when the weather starts to get hotter. No matter your figure type, you can always find a fabulous swimsuit. Plus size swimsuits are good at bringing attention to your best features. If you have a pear shape, look for suits with longer leg openings. Women with slightly smaller chests can benefit from a ruffled top. A woman with curves can go for bathing suits with a controlled middle that helps bring her to a pleasing hourglass shape at the beach. Throw on DIFFERENT SKY embroidered duster and voila’…your outfit is done, such a head-turner.
3. Comfortable Jeans
Jeans are one of those items that go so well with the world of summer. You want to have jeans for summer that let you walk to the beach comfortably. Look for jeans with lots of little details. Plus-sized women can benefit from having a bit of oomph such as beading on the edges of the jeans makes it all work. We recommend white jeans as they will give that extra summer look and why not combining jeans with our beautifully crafted and embroidered summer waistcoat PENNINGTON?
4. Skirts For All Occasions
Skirts work well during the summer. They are good choices when you want to look professional as you head off to the office. Subtle patterns add flair and make it feminine. Our long pintuck skirt MY WAY is versatile and can be used for many different occasions depending on what you team it up with. Sneakers and tee for a sporty look and flat sandals and a tank top for an understated confident look. This skirt has several layers of pintucks of different widths and is cut from a drapery light weight fabric and finished with a sporty contrast waistband with a hint of golden lurex.
5. Relaxed Tops
One can never have too many pretty summer tops! You’ll want tops that help you feel confident no matter your personal body type. Balance your apple figure with a top that has a bit of patterning at the sleeves and hem. If you have a relatively short torso, a cropped top is a good way to break it up and bring in interest.
Cotton is the ideal material for summer. It breathes well and it’s easy to clean.
Silk is lightweight and elegant. That makes it perfect for a summer date when you want to go just a little bit dressy.
Summer is all about enjoying the season. Make it happen now with the right fashion staples in your personal wardrobe. Shop sensibly and timeless shapes and colors to transcend many seasons ahead, and know the brands that you are shopping from.

Maxi dresses have been around since the 1930s and have been in and out of the fashion scene in the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘90s. While it gets its fair share of ups and downs in the fashion history wheel, new designs and materials have made maxi dresses a modern woman’s fashion staple.
With textile technology innovations and awareness about sustainable fashion, you can now purchase maxi dresses that use earth-friendly materials and are made using ethical practices. Such fashion philosophies are in every fiber of Scarlett Poppies’ clothing and fashion accessories collections, allowing you to enjoy fashion made with a purpose.
If you’re only discovering the maxi dress now, then you’re in for a treat as we at Scarlett Poppies have put together some style tips and tricks for making this piece of clothing work for you in 2021. For long-time maxi dress enthusiasts, read on and get clued in on the latest information on how to style these long dresses.
1. Know Your Body Type
The first consideration that you have to bear in mind is your body type. Some people are hesitant to try on maxi dresses for fear of looking awkward in this type of clothing. However, if you match your particular body type with a specific cut or silhouette, you can confidently wear a maxi dress.
To avoid swimming in a sea of fabric, choose a maxi dress with a hemline that grazes the top of your feet. It is best if your dress does not go above your ankle. For women with petite frames, finding the perfect length may mean that you should have one maxi dress tailor-made or by just taking your new dress and have the length perfected according to what works for you.
Taller women may have to try different ones to find the right length, or may need to be more mindful of the size guide when buying maxi dresses online.
Make sure to also go for cuts and fabrics that are loose in areas that you want hidden but still drape just over your curves. Maxi dresses in A-line or empire cut designs can make one look slimmer, while those with V-necks can give the illusion of an elongated body.
2. Accentuate with Accessories
Another style tip that we can give to make maxi dresses work for you is to work with the right accessories. The year 2021 is all about backless maxi dresses or minimalist maxis. With bareback maxis such as our Sunset Mood Chiffon Backless Maxi Dress, you are good to go with just a pair of simple hoop earrings. The dress cut and print speaks for itself.
Minimalist maxis such as our Graphic Maxi Tiered Strap Dress can be dressed up with our Embroidered Fashion Mask or accentuated with our Seychelles Shell-Embellished Bag or Purse.
You can also go for big hoop or tassel earrings, bold bangles, or hair scarves – and the thumb rule is to keep it simple if the color or print of the dress is loud and expressive. Less is indeed very often more.
3. Play with Colors and Patterns
Colors and patterns can also help infuse verve into any maxi dress outfit. Choose one in neutral colors like black or white for a more elegant air or go bold with bright colors such as orange or spicy yellow. Graphic floral prints or a multi-print one like our Tiered Maxi Dress with Long Sleeves also lend a more playful appeal.
Again, remember to consider your body type when choosing prints. Stick to smaller prints and patterns like dainty florals, mini polka dots, and thin stripes if you don’t want large prints to overwhelm your body proportions. If you want to appear slimmer, choose to wear maxi dresses with denser patterns.
Our full sleeve maxi dress Mixology has splicing print, two artworks in the same color, beautifully blended within the tiers, bodice and sleeves.
4. Incorporate Textures
Turn up the visual volume by choosing textured fabrics or designs that feature beadwork embroidery, sequins or lace embellishments.
Most of our collections at Scarlett Poppies feature beautiful embellishments and excellent hand embroidery. These timeless designs add a unique flair to each garment and make it a worthy investment.
You can also mix and match pieces with different textures or fabrics to add interest to your outfit. For example, a denim jacket over a maxi dress made of linen gauze material can add more character to your fashion ensemble.
5. Find the Right Footwear
Another way to glam up your maxi dress is to choose the appropriate footwear.
In 2021, expect a shoe trend that includes clogs, chunky boots, mules, platform thongs, retro sneakers, and flats such as brogues, oxfords, and loafers. All of these are fantastic choices to pair with your maxi dress as long as they are appropriate for the occasion or weather.
For the summer, keep it simple and timeless by teaming up with flat leather sandals. Our true favorite at Scarlett Poppies is without doubt the hand-made leather sandals from the Greek brand Ancient Greek Sandals, www.ancient-greek-sandals.com. Effortlessly cool, understated and just right.
Maximum Style
Maxi dresses can be a classic addition to any closet. You can consider this kind of garment an essential element of any wardrobe because of its versatility. Consider purchasing a maxi dress, especially when you are building a capsule wardrobe. Choose one that has a timeless design, cut, and color that suits you and if this kind of garment is new to you, choose a timeless classic color made to last beyond seasons.
More importantly, go for maxi dresses made with excellent craftsmanship and made of natural materials, just like how we do it at Scarlett Poppies. Check out our collections and shop today.
]]>1. Dress for Confidence
There’s a big difference between dressing well and walking around like a peacock. One earns near-universal praise while the other can be off-putting. Ultimately, you should just “do you.” In other words, find your own style and run with it. But, at the same time, there are certain looks that help instill self-confidence, especially among people who are just now starting to think critically about their wardrobe.
A well-groomed man in a blue blazer and crisp jeans looks good almost anywhere. The same goes for a woman in a little black dress — both to dress up or dress down — that can be worn year-round, like our VINTAGE DREAMS, the volume sleeve mesh embroidered loose fitted dress.
Remember to dress in such a way that you always feel comfortable and to simply be you.
Well-manicured nails– not overdone – is by far one of the easiest way to always be dressed with confidence. If nails are in order, you just need a basic, timeless dress and a pair of neat flats and off you go to celebrate your moment.
2. Dress for Success
They say you should always dress for the job you want — not the job you have. This is some great advice for workwear. Yes, really, you should be dressing well for yourself. It helps establish discipline and shows — to yourself — that you have respect for what you will be doing with your day.
But we also need to be realistic. Other people are watching, too. It may not ultimately be fair, but bosses notice how you look. This doesn’t mean you need to spend your savings on fancy clothes.
You should, however, always be mindful of the dress code at work. Failing in understanding work wear dress code will over time question your professionalism and business opportunities may be passed on to a colleague instead who is consistently representative for the company, by just looking smart.
Remember that we are often finding ourselves judging a book by its cover, whether we like it or not. How we dress and appear is no different.
3. Dress for YourselfThe last thing to remember is that we all walk around with different personalities and bodies. What works for some people may not be a great fit — in terms of size, aesthetics or style — for you. A lot of this comes down to personal choice and how you choose to present yourself in all aspects of life. A leather motorcycle jacket with studs looks great on some people and a bit like a costume on others — and you probably already know which side you fall on here.
You want to also consider the physical fit as well. Certain cuts of jeans (skinny, regular, relaxed) look different on different body types. This isn’t even about whether you carry a few extra pounds. Sure, skinny jeans tend to work better on thinner frames. But high-rise or low-cut waists can be more or less flattering even on two different super-fit people.
You don’t need to read some fashion encyclopedia about all this; instead, try to follow your instincts. Something that looks great on your best friend may not work for you, so don’t force it. Find items that fit you properly and that you will feel better in, rather than walking around like some imposter in uncomfortable clothes that are too baggy, too tight or just too “someone else.”
Invest sensibly in timeless clothes made to last for many seasons ahead. Buy high quality garments, in classic colors and prints and be mindful on what looks good on you and make you feel confident and not least comfortable. Our EVENING BREEZE, the linen broderie anglaise ruffle jumpsuit, is the perfect example of a timeless and classic piece that will never go out of style.
Looking Better, Feeling Better
Most people think about fashion as a shallow endeavor — and it definitely can be. Of course, many people miss the point of finding their own style. Sometimes, it can all seem like a world reserved for insecure people begging for acceptance.
But, at its best, dressing well is all about internal rewards. You don’t want to base your whole self-esteem on clothes. They’re just clothes after all. You can dress for confidence, though — just like you can dress for success at work. And no matter what you choose to wear, you should always first and foremost dress for yourself.
It may seem silly to some people, but if you dress well and look great, you really can feel better about yourself and be the best version of yourself. Trust us when we say that it will always be reciprocated from your surroundings. Such is the modern world we’re living in!

When you shop summer wear and beach outfits, be mindful of choice of material that a fabric is made of. Natural fibers such as cotton, linen, ramie and silk will help adjusting to the temperature, as will cellulosic fibers generated from trees. Cellulosic fibers come in mahy different expressions; viscose, modal, rayon and Tencel, just to mention a few. you find many good sustainable options in all these fabrics. Polyester on the other hand gives the sensation of wrapping your body with clingfilm, it is made of fibers generated from oil. It doesn’t breath much and we all know the nasty sensation of feeling sticky and not being at ease in what we wear. Polyester also tends to look too formal for casual, effortless summer outfits – as if we tried to hard…
3 Steps to Putting Together a Cute Beach Outfit
1. When it comes to cute beach outfits, the options are endless so start by narrowing your choices down to the occasion. What you wear to the beach with your friends on the weekend will be entirely different from what you wear to the beach for a cocktail event.
2. Appropriate attire will not only help you look stylish, but it’s also respectful to the person putting on the event. Or the culture of the country where you are.
After identifying the occasion, it’s time to decide what type of outfit you want to wear. Do you want to look classically chic, boho, young, sexy? What do you want your beach outfit to say about you? Because our clothes speak for us before we do, you want to make sure you’re getting the right message across. It is important to also understand the cultural expectations of a destination that you plan to visit, to be treated with respect one has to show it.
3. The last component in putting together your perfect beach outfit is the actual items themselves and making sure they all go together to create a stylish and cute beach outfit. If you’re going to the beach for a dinner date, you most likely want to look stylish but still keep the beach vibe in your look. Fluid chiffon maxi dresses always look good and are sensual, best worn with classy, strappy sandals for a confident look.
The 5 beach outfits below cover a variety of looks for different occasions. These outfits are not just dresses. We wanted to make sure this resource is something that you could use when you need a dressy beach outfit or something to wear strolling the boardwalk.
